Abstract Reality
Smashing Press founder MGC3003 never sleeps, consuming so much coffee he's listed in Starbucks's annual reports. Ironically, mention this and the subject changesquickly to an anti-corporate rant, followed by an apology for his leather jacket which negates his pro-vegetarian agenda. Such conflict defines MGC3003. Check his tracks; one minute he's stalking Avril Lavigne or chasing underage girls, and the next minute he's educating listeners about the importance of democracy and warning of the impending crisis caused by the socio-economic effect of corporate controlled media on our culture. MGC3003 is a graduate from the Art Institute of Dallas. Impressed by the mention of "community beautification projects" in his portfolio submission, the Art Institute awarded MGC a full-scholarship which was nearly revoked when they found out that was his way of telling them he was a notorious graffiti artist who once did time in jail after being accused of spray-painting his band's name on the local police department. Abstract Reality was co-founded by MGC3003 with Hempmaster J, and he is the executive producer & vocalist for nearly all A-Reality tracks. MGC is the mastermind behind the Smashing Press Network and frequents the Smashing Press BBS in order to stay in touch with Fans & Friends Of Abstract Reality.

Access Music
In recent years, Germany-based Access Music moved up the ladder to join elite group of the world's most illustrious synthesizer makers. And for very good reason: Introduced in 1997, the virtual analog Virus was received enthusiastically by both the international music press and players. Powered by fat sounding oscillators, extremely flexible, analog sounding filters and a stunning range of features, the Virus' rise to fame was swift. Today it is unarguably the most sought-after instrument of its kind and the wellspring of the company's excellent reputation.

Adam Shenk
Adam Shenk was barely old enough to weigh in on his career options when destiny determined his calling. After his parents observed their three-year-old singing original songs into a tape recorder, they found ways to encourage his gift. When he was 11, he earned a slot at Princeton, N.J.’s prestigious American Boychoir School. Not a bad initiation for a teen-ager born in Indiana and growing up in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. His education continued at Michigan’s Interlochen Center for the Arts, then the Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Songwriting. In 2007, Shenk scored an audition for the semi-finals of MTV’s popular “Making the Band 4,” in New York, performing for host P. Diddy. That same year, he served as songwriter, producer and singer for his first EP, the seven-song “If Ya Like This.” In 2010, with roots firmly established in New York, his second album, “Suitcases,” focuses on transition and change. Produced by Ayhan Sahin with music and lyrics by Shenk, the 14-track disc meshes pop and contemporary R&B with old-school soul and shades of jazz. Imagine classic Simply Red infused with the youth and verve of Chris Brown. In addition to performances at New York’s Rockwood Music Hall, Cutting Room, The Bitter End and Bowery Poetry Club, Shenk has headlined a series of live gigs at Pianos. AKG
In the world of pro audio, AKG microphones and headsets have been synonymous with excellence for several decades. Around the world recording studios, radio and TV stations, opera houses and famous stages count on AKG products. Internationally known musicians and show-stars have frequently been seen using our high-quality microphones and headphones for many decades. Today AKG is one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality microphones, headphones and wireless-equipment. Listed below is the brief story of one of the most famous brands in the professional audio-world… AKG, founded in Vienna by Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless, soon became one of the biggest players in the world of sound. Today AKG is synonymous with good sound, stands for passion in music providing the highest quality and ongoing innovation in the world of music. The company was founded in 1947 and within months, the first AKG microphones were being used in radio stations, theatres and Jazz-Clubs. The products (the AKG DYN Series) were at that time manufactured by hand by five workers. In 1949, the first AKG headphones came on the market. Then, in the early fifties AKG made a breakthrough with several new products: Totally new technologies like the world’s first high quality condenser microphone, the D 12 with its cardioid characteristics, the world’s first remote-controlled multi-pattern capacitor microphone, the C 12 and the D 36 made acoustic history. One of the first customers of the famous C 12 microphone was the BBC in London.

Albert Huffstickler
Huffstickler's biography is best found in his poetry, fiction, essays, and art. he came into his own as a poet both within the rich poetry scene of Austin and eventually in the international small press scene. He began the Hyde Park Poets Series, sponsored various workshops, presented readings, and began to travel with his poetry. He won the Austin Book Award in 1989, with the publication of Walking Wounded, a book based on a stay in a convalescence home following back surgery. Also in 1989, the Texas Legislature passed a resolution honoring Huffstickler for his contribution to poetry in Texas. And in 1997, a tribute to Huffstickler opened the Austin International Poetry Festival. Huffstickler has published hundreds of poems in journals throughout the world, from the academic to the underground. Many of his own poems are found under the Press of Circumstance imprint, whereas many others appear in chapbooks published by other presses. Book-length collections include Walking Wounded and Working on My Death Chant, both from Back Street Press. Why I Write in Coffee Houses and Diners. Selected Poems (Authors Choice Press) is currently available from www. bn.com.

Algorithms and Interactive Tools for Exploring Music Composition
The Web-based application found on this site has been designed for exploring algorithms in an interdisciplinary environment. The Web site contains interactive tools, which provide a unique learning experience for users, regardless of their musical training. Students of music composition can explore algorithmic composition, while others can create musical representations of models for the purpose of aural interpretation and analysis. Here, the algorithmic process is used in a creative context so that users can convert sequences of numbers into sounds. For example, the Web-based application at this site can provide aural representations of Pi, DNA sequences, or Dow Jones Industrial averages. This learning environment allows users a hands-on approach to creating music by means of conceptualization. This Web site was created at the direction of Dr. Jonathan Middleton with assistance from a superb team of programmers: Andrew Cobb, Michael Henry, Robert Lyon, and Ian Siemer. This project was funded by the generous support of the Northwest Academic Computing Consortium (NWACC).

Alien Planetscapes
Originally, Alien Planetscapes (AP) was intended to bring the concepts of free jazz improvistation to the Electronic Music (EM) of the Berlin school of EM, which I had been listening to since 1971, when I discovered Tangerine Dream (TD), Ash Ra Temple and others from Germany. Another influence was Baltimore based Tangent, who'd been playing TD influenced music in the US in 1977 (I got into them from their ads in Trouser Press). Also my association with Barney Jones (RIP) and Mars Everywhere was crucila in solidifying my interest in the SpaceRock form on the east coast. Forming the band was my reaction to my previous band (YETI), which played an intense form of Elctronic Free Jazz; there was a desire on my part to dispence with the drums and guitars, in favor of more elastic rhythms approaches from sequencers, and more reptition of said rhythmic materials!

Allan Soberman
Allan Soberman is a singer/songwriter/musician and cantor's son based in Toronto, Canada. He started his career as a bassist with many of the folk acts in and around Toronto in the early to mid 1970's. He has accompanied people such as Grammy award winners Dan Hill and Ben Mink, Bill Hughes (of Lazarus), Canadian stalwarts Stringband, Brent Titcomb, Nancy White, Marie-Lynn Hammond and others while touring Canada, the United States and Mexico. Always interested in record production, he began work in the mind 1970's for record producer John Capek (who co-wrote hits such as "Thythm of My Heart" for Rod Stewart and "Pieces Of Ice" for Diana Ross), garnering production experience and doing many background vocal sessions which he put to good use during the early 1980's as a session vocalist in many television and radio commercials and on record. In 2001, after completing a tribute compilation CD to his late father, Cator Morris Soberman, he recorded a comtemporary large chorus-oriented Hebrew prayer CD which still only used the traditional prayer melodies that he had learned as a child. He maintained the intimate soulful connection for himself by singing all the vocal arrangements and playing all the instruments. 2007 sees Soberman reaching deeper into his pop rock past with a new album, Hold Tight.
