Frisell's guitar is the perfect companion throughout, in fact you're never quite sure if it's the guitar or the vocalist who's guiding you here, the match is that solid. A treasure." Bugs, birds and pop music. Woods, John T. Baker's first solo CD is a concise comment on the beauty of nature, friendship and the ever-expanding urban sprawl that encroaches on these values. "Welcome" brings you into the warmth of close company, while "Forgotten" tries to rekindle lost connections. "Urban Machine" takes you on a bike ride through urban downtown gridlock, thumbing your nose at those sorry souls trapped in their cars at the stop lights. Continuing in the same pop vein as 1996's Paddleboat. John expands his range into more vocal harmonies and multilaryered instruments.
