There’s a distinctive force behind Running Still’s music that’s undeniable. The Brooklyn, NY based rock quartet plays with a passion that draws their listeners in and leaves them wanting more. Their dynamic live shows prove this is a band with staying power, and people are starting to take notice. And with their debut album, "Running Still," they are poised to show everyone their vision of what’s possible for rock in the 21st century.

Running Still is originally the brainchild of Asi Meskin, a singer, songwriter, guitarist and keyboard player. Meskin met bassist Ben Zwerin after approaching him on the streets of the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Zwerin, who comes from a musical family (his father played with jazz legends such as Eric Dolphy and Miles Davis), has a "McCartney"- like melodic sensibility that caught Meskin's ear.

The two began touring together hitting major markets like New York, Philadelphia and Washington D.C. They eventually began to look for other players to expand their sound. One night while Asi was working as a sound engineer at a club in NY, he met drummer Chris Higginbottom. He was drawn to his solid but propulsive style; keeping the band locked in, but always with the potential to soar.
Raed Khazen, a guitarist and long time friend of the band, was the last piece of puzzle. His guitar style, influenced by a love for the unconventional, would ensure that the band would always rock. When the four players finally united, they described the experience as one of alchemy, of elements transforming to create something magical. Beginning to play out under the name Running Still, the band’s reputation as a live powerhouse began to grow, bringing new, hopeful exciting energy to the listener.

Having spent much of 2007 recording, the band is poised to make 2008 their breakthrough year. Their new album is the sound of a band discovering what rock is truly capable of; creating a realm of spirituality, inspiration and possibility for both band and listener. “My House”, the opening track, is a call to transcend the usual mundane experience that all too many accept as life; its driving energy and sexy bass lines lead into an anthemic and unforgettable chorus. Meskin’s resolve to persevere through his anger and frustration with the world around him (“Damn those cynicals/Selling all their miracles”) makes the invitation of the song all the more compelling. “Fly” is reminiscent of “Beautiful Day” area U2 with its hypnotic melody and a chorus that almost demands to be sung along with, even on the first listen. And “Ordinary” calls you to a world of endless possibility, a chance to create something new and beautiful: “I don’t belong with you I’m ordinary/But something inside me feels extraordinary.” And when Meskin hits a falsetto note in the chorus, it is nothing less than chilling.

Running Still is now focusing on winning their audience the real way – face-to-face and show-to-show – producing a core following of devoted fans. In the beginning of 2008, they will be touring up and down the east coast, playing clubs and colleges, looking to connect on a level deeper than most acts. As Zwerin declares, “We want to be able to do what we love for a long time and to reach as many people as possible. We’re devoted to the idea that you can change the world through something that although seeming small, is totally impactful. What we’re about and what our music is about is creating something that inspires people to think and dream.” With boldness of intention and an audacious new album Running Still is set to fulfill their mission to inspire the myriad of emotions that make people feel truly alive – love, hope and passion.
