Upper Working Class
I got a house and a car, but I don't have no cash
don't go joydrivin' around, I can't afford the gas
go to the discount store and not the movie show
I stay at home and listen to the radio
set my sights on the time when the last will be first
and the first will be last
I keep saying someday this is all going to pass
I'm a dues-paying member of the upper working class

Come payday I got just enough to barely get by
but the man on meet the press says my wages are too high
I've been outsourced again, I know it's a sin
I ain't felt secure since I don't know when
and he whips out his saw when he sees me out on a limb
I guess I hooked me a carp when I went fishing for bass
edge-of-the cliff, working stiff upper working class

I don't take vacations, I got no time for this
I got no time to cry, that's just the way it is
I keep hoping the sun will shine on me,
I keep pinning my hopes on the lottery
trying to stay afloat when they've sold my boat again
so broke I can't pay attention to the corporate sass
