Ego plays a variety of instruments including: conventional electric and acoustic guitars, some toy guitars altered for microtonal improvisation, fretless guitar (a custom Chris Shaffer headless model with 7 strings), 19TET microtonal nylon string fretless hybrid, lap steel, banjo, oud, bass, and Sarod. Ego's involvement with "BS" led to a profile of the virtual wonderland Gtr Oblq (previously known as SLH and now "Kronosonic") in Guitar One magazine (Oct 2001) where Bofatron was proclaimed a "chops monster." Out in the real world IE's hybrid rock compositions and past bands have been heard on college radio stations across the midwest.
