Jeff Archer

I am a recording artist from the Detroit, Michigan area. All of my albums and E.P.'s are "home produced" recordings that I produce for friends and family. I play guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, keyboards, synthesizers, and drums.

I try to write and record music in as many styles and genres as possible. I play most of the instruments on my solo work but I occasionally like to record with some of the excellent musicians that I have met and associated with over the years. I record my music onto a variety of formats including a 2-track stereo reel to reel recorder from the early 60's, 4-track analog cassette, 8-track analog reel to reel, and 24-track digital.

I have recorded 9 solo albums and 6 solo EP's.

From the album Northville
This track is from an album of soundtrack music that I am writing and recording to accompany video footage of the abandoned and now demolished Wayne County Training School in Northville, Michigan for a DVD. The finished DVD is being produced by Tim Wilson who is the webmaster of the Northville tunnels website - www.northville-tunnels.com.

The music featured in the video will also be released on a seperate "soundtrack" album once the music is finished. This track will be the first track to appear on the finished album.

The instrumentation that I used for this piece consisted of electric guitar, Mellotron cello, Mellotron violins, Mellotron brass, and Mellotron choirs.

From the album Experimental Music #1 - Moog Music
"Exit" is the 9th track from the "Moog Music" E.P. "Moog Music" is a collection of 4-track pieces that were routed through the audio input of a Moog Micromoog synthesizer. As the tapes were played through the synthesizer they were "processed" using the Moog's filter and modulation capabilites. While the tapes were being "processed" they were simultaneously being digitally re-recorded using the Sonar "Home Studio 4" recording program.

The 4-Track tape of "Exit" was recorded with acoustic and electric guitars and ARP Odyssey synthesizer. Credits: Jeff Archer

Black Swan received the following comment: "very nice "test piece"! great melody and playing on all the instruments. has a sort of 70's rock dirge vibe, i think it would've make a great soundtrack piece for a movie like "Almost Famous" or something similar." --cystem (posted 06/08/06)
