The Labors of Sisyphus

failure.jpg

It would be hard to compose an essay to convey the idea of heat while standing naked in an igloo. However, if one was to try, it would surely reek of an unparalleled and quite unfulfilled desire for the faintest touch of warm air. Operating within a very similar set of circumstances and under the assumed name the Labors of Sisyphus, Travis Gerke composes songs offering a vain hope for wishes come true, storybook relationships, sunny days and happy endings. A former member of the pop-punk band Sloppy Meateaters, Travis has for the last year and a half funnelled all of his efforts into creating a musical statement more genuine and heartfelt than previous efforts; a feat that he has well-surpassed in the release of his debut full-length "A Recurring Theme of Failure." Travis currently resides in Rome, Georgia, and in between live performances can be found hard at work on his CD-EP "Nothing Makes Me Happier" due for release in the spring of 2003.
