Cruiserweight's roots begin some seven years ago with brothers Urny and Yogi Maxwell's band Red boxing. When the band dissolved in 1998, Urny and Yogi were far from ready to give up their dream. As the idea to pursue a more pop-rock oriented sound began to take shape, the search for the right singer to animate their creation ended quickly as their sister, Stella, stepped gracefully into the position. Stella's strong and passionate voice was the perfect fit for the brothers' biting blend of rock, punk, and pop. The band soon began playing live as Crusierweight, but it wasn't until the addition of longtime friend, bassist Dave Hawkins, that Cruiserweight as we know it was born.
